VSH is a great place to launch your career.
VSH offers several internships throughout the year, and our program is carefully designed to facilitate a wide variety of experiences. What better way is there, to learn what accounting, auditing, and advisory services really look like? Every internship is ensured to cover specific, key topics, but each unfolds into a unique experience in order to take advantage of seasonal opportunities while leaning into specialty areas of individual interest.
What will you learn?
As a member of a progressive firm that utilizes technology to advance business practices, you’ll see what it’s like to work on a team that is on the leading edge of the industry. This real-world experience will be a chance to see how the accounting field has shifted from being tax and compliance focused to being proactive business advisers. You’ll have a chance to be involved in the planning and scheduling of engagements, participate in client meetings, assume some client responsibility, discuss strategies related to client scenarios, and develop customized plans for client needs under the supervision of firm Managers and Partners and with peer support and collaboration.
Interns are invited to participate in firm practice development through involvement with referral sources, community, and industry activities. You’ll be exposed to practice management including recruiting, training, technology, and marketing. You’ll gain valuable practice in a broad range of focus areas including A&A, tax, tax research, and niche areas of international taxation and state & local taxation.
Our internship experience provides a meaningful introduction to our firm – which has broad expertise in all fields of accounting, yet is still small and personable enough to allow you to work closely with professionals at all levels of our firm.
What do past interns have to say about their time at VSH?
“When I started my Winter A&A internship at VSH, I immediately felt welcomed into a supportive and friendly culture. I was given a great deal of responsibility that made me feel like a crucial part of the team right away. I really value having the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, as it gave me more well-rounded skilled while allowing me to get a better idea of what I found most interesting to pursue in the future. My extremely positive experience allowed me to hit the ground running when I returned for a staff position in the Fall.”
– Melissa (Winter 2015, now an Accountant at Seafood Producers Cooperative)
“This firm really supports employee development which is very helpful. The environment around the firm itself is really a relaxed one where you can get work done without being distracted so easily … Everyone around the firm is so nice and helpful that I feel like I can go to anyone with questions that I need to be answered. Overall, I would give this firm a rating of 10/10 as one of the best places to work at.”

“Interning at VSH allowed me to apply the knowledge I learned in the classroom to real-world situations. I gained the skills and experience that is essential for creating a strong foundation for a career in public accounting.
