About Emma

Cross-Border Tax Insight, Rooted in Client Growth

Emma Raivio is a Tax Manager at VSH CPAs with deep expertise in international and state and local tax (SALT) consulting. With a strong foundation in compliance and a passion for simplifying complex scenarios, Emma helps businesses—especially those with cross-border operations—navigate U.S. tax requirements with confidence. Whether supporting a Canadian startup expanding into U.S. markets or guiding a family-owned enterprise through growth transitions, she brings thoughtful, proactive solutions that align with each client’s long-term vision.

A Glimpse into Emma's Journey

Emma holds dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Accounting and Management Information Systems from Western Washington University. Inspired by her grandfather, a CPA, she discovered early on a passion for numbers and strategy. She began her career in audit before transitioning into international tax at VSH—a move that allowed her to blend technical rigor with strategic problem-solving.

With nearly six years in public accounting and five at VSH, Emma has developed a niche in cross-border consulting, particularly for Canadian businesses entering the U.S. market. Her work spans industries such as manufacturing, real estate, service providers, and wholesalers, giving her a broad understanding of the operational and tax complexities clients face.

Specialized Client-Centered Solutions, Designed for Global Challenges

Emma’s approach to client service centers on listening and aligning strategies with her clients’ future goals. She prioritizes communication and takes time to understand pain points, ensuring that clients feel heard, supported, and empowered to move forward with clarity. She regularly advises on tax law changes, compliance strategies, and specialized State and Local Tax (SALT) topics.

For Emma, client success means more than meeting compliance—it’s about helping clients retain capital for growth, build sustainable businesses, and thrive in new markets. She views every client interaction as a chance to contribute meaningfully to their success story.

Life Outside the Office

Outside of work, Emma enjoys spending time with her husband, Kyle, their young son, Lochlan, and their lively crew of three dogs and a cat. She loves cooking, exploring the outdoors, and cherishing quality time with her family.
