Summer Mitchell

Summer Mitchell is a Senior Accountant at VSH CPAs, where she is part of the firm's International Tax team. She works closely with clients to prepare tax returns, manage ongoing tax compliance, and support businesses and individuals navigating both U.S. and international tax matters. She also helps onboard and train new hires and interns, contributing to the collaborative culture at VSH.

Summer enjoys the complexity of international tax work and appreciates that it builds upon domestic tax concepts while requiring a deeper understanding of cross-border issues. She especially enjoys helping new clients establish a strong foundation, whether they're launching a business or transitioning to VSH, and guiding them through what can often feel like a complex process.

Summer's path into accounting began with encouragement from her grandfather, an accountant who recognized both her strengths and the opportunities the profession could offer. After enrolling in her first accounting course at Western Washington University, she quickly found herself drawn to the work and went on to earn her bachelor's degree in accounting. Although her career initially took her into administrative roles supporting faculty and departments at the university, earning her MBA reignited her passion for accounting and confirmed it as her long-term professional path. After completing her graduate degree, she joined VSH, where she has continued building her expertise in international tax.

Summer credits her experience outside of public accounting with shaping her client service philosophy. Supporting people across a variety of academic environments taught her the importance of communication, responsiveness, and creating a positive experience—skills she brings to every client relationship.

Summer believes every client should feel supported and confident that their questions are being addressed. She strives to respond promptly, understand each client's unique circumstances, and ensure they feel cared for throughout the engagement.
